Learn a Solid Foundation in BJJ
The sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu means different things to different people. We consider it as “Human Chess†where we use our bodies as an extension of our minds at a game of physical and mental wit. To do well in this sport, you need discipline, passion, and lots of patience. The average time it takes to earn a black belt is about 10 years, so don’t feel like a slow poke when you’re doing this. You can get a university degree and finish graduate studies  in less time than it takes to go through a full BJJ cirruculum
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are open for all levels for Adults and Kids 10 yrs and older. Students learn positioning, sweeps, and submissions. The syllabus is provided by the Gracie Barra Academies, an internationally recognized association of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu affiliates. The main focus of this syllabus is on technique and basic movements. Students can gain enough knowledge and training to begin competing at BJJ and grappling tournaments.
The schedule for BJJ classes is as follows:
- SUPER AWESOME BJJ: Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30 – 5:45 pm (Adults and Kids 10+)
- BEGINNERS BJJ: Mondays and Wednesdays 8:00 – 9:00 pm (Adults only)
- SUBMISSION GRAPPLING: Thursday 9:30 – 10:30 am (No Gi required)
- OPEN MAT: Saturdays 9:00 – 10:00 am (Adults only)
All students are required to train in a gi uniform that is designed for BJJ or Judo, except for the submission grappling class. All Super Awesome BJJ classes are taught by Van, a purple belt in BJJ. Beginner’s BJJ classes are taught by Hamish, a purple belt in BJJ.
