Gareth Carter
Gareth Carter was born in Auckland. He started his Martial Arts career early at the age of 6 when he began Judo, where he later earned his first dan black belt. He has an extensive resume of Judo tournament championships, and has represented New Zealand at many international competitions. Gareth also trained in boxing from ages 10 to 16 years, having had 5 amateur boxing fights.
In 2009, Gareth became interested in MMA, and started training with Hamish Robertson. Hamish immediately recognized Gareth’s talent and quickly put him into the fighter’s program after a few months of training. With less than a year of MMA training, Gareth has already collected a couple of amatuer MMA victories. AMMA expects a great deal more victories from this up and coming fighter.
Gareth is currently working at a Panel Beater’s shop. When he isn’t trying to tap out his good buddy Ev Ting, he enjoys any type of sport, travelling, lots and lots of sleep, going out with the bros, and having a few brews.
